ZERO waste to landfill

We are committed to achieving sustainable business processes, with a key focus on the waste hierarchy. We first and foremost work to prevent waste, then aim to reduce, reuse, recycle, recover and dispose efficiently. Our end goal will always remain zero waste to landfill.

Our commitment to a safe and environmentally responsible workplace

ZeroHarm is a group-wide initiative that aspires to commit zero harm to our people, as well as applying to our environmental impacts, where we aim to minimise impacts as much as possible. ZeroHarm is deeply embedded throughout the company, and we expect every member of the team to promote a strong health and safety culture.

We are constantly working to create safe, high integrity processes and offer plenty of safety information and training to enable us to achieve our HSE goals.

carbon footprint

Data-driven insights to help our carbon strategy

Senior Bird Bellows will always strive to do the right thing. This applies throughout the business, including our environmental responsibilities.

We are continually taking steps towards reducing our carbon footprint and currently exclusively source 100% renewable energy from wind farms. Our site has much-improved insulation and glazing, and we run thermal imaging and air leak surveys to ensure we are being energy efficient. We also utilise energy monitoring software, which monitors all usage of electricity, gas and water. We ask our suppliers to work to reduce their carbon footprints, too.

toolbox talks

Regular toolbox talks for continual safety awareness

Our regular on-site toolbox talks increase safety awareness, reduce injuries and help to avoid complacency. They also serve as a great opportunity for our team raise any concerns and observations. We understand that excellent performance depends on our people’s behaviours, which is why a strong health and safety culture and excellent communication are imperative.

positive mental wellbeing

Mental health and wellbeing are incredibly important to us

We take an active role in caring for our people and truly understand the benefits of regular breaks and fresh air. That’s why we worked together to create a peaceful area away from the factory. This serene space was constructed with recycled materials and provides the team with a quiet place to destress.

Our employees’ everyday health is very important to us, which is why our team members also benefit from a Simplyhealth plan, providing more access to better healthcare and a host of other benefits.

The promising results of our continuous efforts

We believe that diligence and open communication are key in creating a safe environment, and so our philosophy is to be proactive, not reactive. Each year, we ask our people to put forward three health and safety observations. The success of this initiative is demonstrated in the results below.
