Our internal process covers the majority of activities required to make our full range of parts. This is complemented by the wider group and long-term relationships with partners, ensuring that every product supplied offers the highest performance.

The knowledge, experience and capability of the team at Senior Bird Bellows allows us to offer every client the most cost-effective solution, while our sizeable portfolio of approvals further cements the level of quality that we continually deliver. Furthermore, our new production process based on AS9145 means we can offer high standard products that are producible and repeatable in a timely manner.

Optimising production with our fully equipped facilty

Senior Bird Bellows are able to offer extensive manufacturing capabilities in a state-of-the-art facility. Our fully equipped site houses a wide range of production machinery including; a CNC tube bender, various CNC lathes and machine centres, and robotic spot welding and polishing. We are taking steps to introduce cobot technology with the first operation being machine tending. Purpose built in 2021, our latest bay allows for rapid reconfigurations of the factory layout.

Our manufacturing capabilities

Bellows forming

Bellows are created with a combination of mechanical and elastomer forming for a simplified process and minimal tooling costs.

Tube forming and welding

We produce our own tubes by forming and welding sheet material, enabling us to produce non-standard diameter tubes for bellows.

Machining

Our machining capabilities include CNC milling and turning, enabling us to trim parts, machine end fittings, drill piccolo ducts, and more.

Hot and cold forming

Forming tube sections to various profiles, including vibreaker connections, gimbal components and retainer rings.

Acid pickling

A specialist metal cleaning process to remove oxide and superficial impurities without compromising the underlying metal.

Welding

TIG, resistance, butt welding to cover the wide range of applications and materials within the product range.

Tube bending

We produce tube bends in a range of metals, from ¾” diameter to 6” diameter. Our CNC tube bending capability allows for multiple bends without welding individual bends together.

Specialist mechanical forming

For bellows, this process does not require bespoke tooling, which means lead times are reduced and large order quantities are not necessary to offset costs.

Thermal insulation

Easily maintainable insulation solutions to minimise heat loss and provide acoustic protection to various duct assemblies.
